A new year in Discovery

Happy new year. So maybe it’s a bit late for all that, but it’s still January and this is the first post of the year so….. Happy new Year.

All of Discovery are looking forward to another year of voluntary work and hope to continue making a difference through all Discovery’s projects. It is currently exam time at the University so most of the volunteers are focusing on that, we would like to wish best of luck to all students taking exams at the moment. As its only just the beginning of the year there hasn’t been much Discovery news to mention yet, so instead here are some of the new thing that will be happening over the next few weeks.

A new youth group is being set up in the St Thomas area for young people. Similar to the existing Sketty park youth group it will provide fun activities!

The food Swansea project continues to expand its horizons and will be bringing community meals to Pontarddulais. There will also be a Valentine’s day community meal on Singleton campus.

This year there will be a big change for the active 18 project, thanks to a new grant members of the group will be organising the activities themselves. Active 18 provides social outings for adults with learning difficulties. Being responsible for the organisation is a great opportunity for their independence.
