Vote in Discovery’s trustee elections

Every year you the Discovery volunteers get to vote for the trustee board. Trustees oversee the work of Discovery & have a meaningful say in the direction of Discovery and the impact it has on the local community so this is your chance to have a say in who should help run Discovery.

This year things will be a little bit different as the elections will be taking place online but we hope that this means that more of our volunteers are able to vote. This email will outline how you register to vote for the elections. 

Voting for the student trustee positions starts today Monday 7th December at 10am and voting will close on Monday 14th December at 9am.

We are fortunate that this year the Swansea Students Union are supporting Discovery by running the elections online for us. Below is how you get to register to vote in the elections. You must log in into the Swansea Students Union website as either a student (if you are a Swansea University student volunteer) or a Guest (if you are a Discovery volunteer who is not a Swansea University student). The trustee elections are called Discovery AGM Membership. We have outlined how to vote below including two screen recordings on how to register how to vote & how to find the Discovery voting page.

To get Discovery AGM Membership as a Student:

  1. Log in as a student on the Students’ Union website
  2. Search for ‘Discovery AGM’
  3. Select ‘Discovery AGM’ under organisations
  4. Select ‘Add to Basket’ to add the Discovery AGM Membership to your basket
  5. Purchase the free membership so that it gets linked with your student number account
  6. You should now have the membership permissions needed to vote in the election!

To get Discovery AGM Membership as a Guest:

  1. Go to the Students’ Union website and select log in, select ‘Staff & Guests’, and opt to ‘Register New Account’ 
  2. Once Guest Account has been created, log in as guest, and search for ‘Discovery AGM’
  3. Select ‘Discovery AGM’ under organisations
  4. Select ‘Add to Basket’ to add the Discovery AGM Membership to your basket
  5. Purchase the free membership so that it gets linked with your guest account
  6. You should now have the membership permissions needed to vote in the election!

To vote in the election once the voting goes live at 10am on Monday the 7th of December:

  1. Ensure you are logged in on the Students’ Union website 
  2. Hover over ‘Student Voice’ to view the drop down menu
  3. Select ‘Elections’ on the drop down menu
  4. Select the ‘Discovery AGM 2020’ and proceed to vote in the election!
