Embracing the Role of a “Penpal” Project Coordinator: A Journey of Connection and Growth
Hello , Bonjour , Hola , Namaste , Ciao and Ni hao, I’m Naman a second year Law student and the project co-ordinator for Penpal. I personally believe that in a world increasingly connected digitally, there’s something special about the simple act of receiving a handwritten letter. In the heart of this sentiment lies “Penpal,” a volunteer project dedicated to bringing companionship and joy to those in need.
“A quick question”:-
What’s that thing which starts with ‘e’ , end with ‘e’ and has letter in it?
It’s ‘envelope’.
If you too had no idea about it , so didn’t I. But I got to know this from one of the children’s’ letter I received during our activity. As the project coordinator, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of a letter exchanged between strangers turned friends.
My role has been both fulfilling and enriching, offering a unique blend of leadership, creativity, and compassion. Volunteering in this capacity has been a cornerstone of my week, a commitment that transcends mere obligation to become a source of joy and purpose.
Balancing the responsibilities of being a project coordinator with my studies has been a rewarding challenge and it wouldn’t have been possible without the unconditional hep of my supervisors and the discovery team. Each week, I dedicated a significant portion of my time to coordinating volunteer activities, from organizing letter-writing sessions to planning creative workshops such as post-card making ,paper dying, etc. Despite the demands of my academic pursuits, I found solace and inspiration in the meaningful connections forged through Penpal.
The impact of serving as a project coordinator has been profound, shaping me in ways I never anticipated. Through this experience, I’ve honed invaluable skills such as communication, organization, delegation and empathy. Some of my favourite aspects of being a project coordinator include witnessing the bonds formed between volunteers and recipients, the joy of seeing someone light up upon receiving a heartfelt letter, and the sense of camaraderie that permeates our gatherings. These moments serve as reminders of the beauty inherent in human connection.
To those considering volunteering or becoming project co-ordinator with Penpal, I urge you to take the leap and join this wonderful project. The impact of a single letter or a shared moment of creativity can ripple far beyond what we can imagine. By lending your time and talents to Penpal, you’re not just writing letters; you’re writing a narrative of kindness and companionship that brightens lives and uplifts spirits.
In conclusion, Penpal is more than just a volunteer project—it’s a movement fueled by the collective goodwill of individuals committed to making a difference. Together, let’s continue spreading joy, one letter at a time and make the world a little less lonely.
