Student Trustee Profile – Samuel Yeung
Samuel is studying a master’s course in Mechanical Engineering at Swansea University. He has been in Swansea for four years but never participated in Discovery until taking on the new role as trustee.
Samuel had friends that partook in Discovery SVS projects. Their common comments were “Extraordinary experience” and “it will help you gain more than you think.”
Samuel was a trustee of a Church’s Charity in his home country for two years. He used to organise events such as monthly visits and cleaning for the elderly; annual charity fundraising walks. He was keen to experience the charity sector and volunteer in the U.K. This new role will help him understand the charity sector in the U.K and compare if there are any differences in cultures.
This year, Samuel has challenged himself to participate in a range of duties in a charity. He believes that Discovery Student Volunteering Swansea is an excellent opportunity for him to get started.
