Student Mental Health Day – Thursday 9th March 2023
For this year’s Student Mental Health Day, I think it’s important to demonstrate how volunteering can help you. Mental health is a topic that effects everyone, and life as a student can be stressful. It is important to make sure you’re setting aside time to give yourself a mental reset.
For a lot of people, volunteering provides this opportunity. Not only does it give you something to do, but it also allows you to make friendships, gain new skills, and become more confident.
Our current volunteers can tell you best: Volunteering at Discovery can provide an “inner calm” that can be hard to find elsewhere, and “A deep connection to another person works better than anything else to reduce stress”.
Volunteering can give you an outlet to unwind and destress when things can be overwhelming, and at the same time you could be making someone else’s day that little bit brighter.
“Sometimes when life just gets a bit harder, Discovery is there to take your mind to a happy place.”
