Our volunteering projects aim to enrich the lives of disadvantaged people across Swansea and work with different community members whether it’s children and young people, individuals with additional needs, refugee and asylum seeker families and older people.
As we are a student led charity we have Swansea University students who manage our wide range of volunteering projects. These volunteering projects have been set up by previous students and taken over by current students over the years while others are run by local charities in Swansea that need a bit of extra volunteer support.
Each project has 1 or 2 Project Coordinators (PC) who are a very important part of the Discovery team as they are responsible for leading the groups of volunteers on their projects as well as organising and delivering our community activities.
As a PC our volunteers will:
- be in charge of the planning and coordinating of project work
- ensure all activities are completed safely and successfully
- support, engage and manage a group of volunteers
- ensure the experience is positive for everyone
- in some cases manage a small budget
